Apprentices and Trainees

Camco has a well-established and successful apprenticeship programme of which we are very proud. Since inception, Camco has employed apprentices at the rate of approximately 1 per 10 tradespeople each year, and in the 25 years since the business was established, is proud to have trained over 260 apprentices and trained to certification.

Our apprenticeship programme is well regarded within the industry and we regularly host apprentices from major resource companies, such as Rio Tinto Iron Ore and BHP Billiton Iron Ore, to provide practical exposure and training.

Core disciplines include:

  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Mechanical Fitter / Machinist
  • Boilermaker / Welder
  • Graduate Engineers (Mechanical) – internship and graduate programs
  • Industrial Painters

I’m interested in an apprenticeship at Camco, what is your Recruitment Process?

  1. Apply by submitting your resume along with a paragraph explaining why you are interested in an apprenticeship and which of our core disciplines you are interested in.
    • Send your application via Seek or to apprenticeship@camcoeng.com.au.
    • Note: Resumes submitted outside of the apprenticeship intake period will not be reviewed until that time,
  2. Resume reviews will begin in August of each year.
  3. Shortlisting of candidates will begin by way of phone screen.
  4. If phone screen is successful, the applicant will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview, and the applicant will complete a Mechanical Engineering aptitude test (approximately 30 mins).
  5. Applicants who progress to the next stage will be required to complete:
    • Reference Check
    • National Police Clearance
    • Pre-employment medical
    • Drug and alcohol screen
  6. Once all requirements are met, the applicant will be offered a role in the first instance as a Trade Assistant.
  7. If the applicant is found competent and all parties are happy with the applicant’s progression, the Trade Assistant will be converted to an apprentice in the following year at the beginning of January.
